Here is a mod guide I wrote for Evil Genius a long time ago.

Developed by Elixir Studios and published by Sierra Entertainment Games, Evil Genius was released on September 28, 2004. The player is cast as an evil genius of a criminal organization (referred to simply as 'the evil organization') plotting to take over the world, from the safety of an evil lair built in the caverns of a mountain hideout.

note: This was made over a year ago so I don't know if any of the links still work however googling the names should give you a working link. Also look in the steam forums if you have having trouble with mods. It shouldnt be an issue though.end note

Since modding guides have suddenly ceased to be posted on Reddit I have decided to write a few. My first one is Evil Genius..enjoy you criminal mastermind you.

Evil Genius is a single player real-time strategy and simulation video game developed by Elixir Studios and published by Sierra Entertainment, released on 28 September 2004. The game is inspired by the spy thriller genre (notably the James Bond film series). Similarly to Dungeon Keeper, the game turns the traditional plotline on its head, with the player acting as the villain, evading the comically stereotyped forces of justice. Gameplay revolves around the player building an island fortress and achieving clichéd world domination.

The intellectual property rights of the game are since March 2, 2006 confirmed to be owned by Rebellion Developments. The game is now available for purchase on GameTap, Steam, Amazon or where ever you like to buy boxed copies of games.

Modding Background

The game may not have been designed to be ultra mod friendly, but that did not stop the mod community. Many varied mod's exist for the game however some compromises have to be made.

First things first instead of last, get your game upto the latest version. Considering they only released the one patch you have a choice of vanilla 1.0 or new and improved 1.01.

The biggest choice you will make at this moment in time is 'Am I in the EU or am I in the US?'

However I suspect some games may already be pre-patched so head to the VUGames/Evil Genius folder and look inside the ReadMe.txt file; the header along the top will give you the information you need. It's either going to say Version 1.0 or Version 1.01.

But wait only 1 patch? Nope your wrong Billy if that is your name, the community made a patch too.

Unofficial patch

The Unofficial Patch is a self installing patch put together by Evil Planet forum member 'walking fishy'. The aim of the patch is to fix certain parts of gameplay which frustrated most Evil Genius players and had not been corrected by any Official Patch.

(PATCH WARNING)The Unofficial Patch is designed to work with the US release of the game which likely means that it cannot be used on European version of the game. It should also be noted that installing the Unofficial Patch is means that you cannot install any future Official Patches (after Official Patch v1.01[You have been warned about surprise patches from long defunct company - Editor MajesticTowerOfHats])

Fear not if you are using the EU patch. It works 100% as far as I can tell having played hours in to the game. Main hu don old remix mp3 download.

I will split the mod section into what they do and you can install in no particular order.

Acts Of Infamy

Or AOI for short. These are missions which are the best way for you to gain notoriety, as well as providing a way to get a hold of important loot and trainers to train your minions.

AOI Pack 1 Contains : -

  • Bank Heist-Japan

  • Mandrin Switch-US East Coast

  • Jolly Roger-Cuba

  • Protection Racket-Europe

  • Love and Peace-Europe

  • Trade Secret

  • Cold as Ice

  • Building Bridges

Evil FM How to get it: Just complete the act of infamy to get the research machine.

What it does: Not only will this boost minion loyalty (although draining a small amount of attention and smarts as minions hum their favourite songs), but it has the added bonus of being laced with subliminal messages that cause even the most hardened agents to reconsider the importance of their jobs and head over to the tiki bar for a drink! AKA stops revolts.

How to install: Extract all the files as they are into the Dynamic Resources folder.

What it does: Installs mods called Archless enemy(it is a skin, it takes away the arches you see when 2 or more room share borders); infinite jail time(this makes sure that agents don't die in the cells);hotel money generator(you get money when tourists interact with the front desk); laz-e-minion(enables you to build a recliner); AOI pack (extra AOIs which you may have already downloaded from my other link); Head popper Eli(eli always dose super head shot damage). Now I would class some of these as 'cheats' so if you do not want a particular one then just delete it's folder from dynamicresources.

Sierra

Install to: Dynamicresources as is. I do not know why they called the file unofficial patch 2.

What it does: Its a room that looks like a freezer however it mysteriousness burns away body bags so they are not pileing up for prying eyes to spot.

Install: It's a simple install, extract the .xml and 2 .desc files into dynamicresource and do what it says in the 4 text files (inserting some text) into the txt files within dynamicresources/patched/

Henchmen

TF2 Soldier - Effort to setup 3/5 (involves some changes to text and ini files. Inside the zip is a READ ME FIRST - SRSLY.txt. Please do.) How to get him: You'll be able to get The Soldier after 200 notoriety. Extra: You can colour him just like the Red Soldier from TF2 by using this file. To install put all files in your dynamicresources. Go to DynamicResourcesTF2_Soldier_Henchman and open file 00599-Henchman_Soldier.desc in notepad. Replace china_soldier_a_03.col with china_soldier_tf2.col and save.

I would consider this the main mod's which will enhance your experience however there is a metric ton of mod's kicking around to change the looks of your minions and henchmen. To further mod your game visit

As they are the best place to pick stuff up.

The only thing that may catch people out is the files missing from dynamicresource/patched/ so I have zipped mine. They are already edited to include all the files above to be set up. If you are adding more then pay attention to the readme's and edit as instructed.

GOD DAMMIT MAN I CAME HERE TO BE AN EVIL GENIUS TODAY! Then cheat http://uk.cheats.ign.com/ob2/068/567/567017.html however beware of the giveall command. It can and probably will bork your game. Most of the files have readme's with the correct command to spawn them.

So that's it, I'm fairly sure everything is working fine on my machine but if anything crops up i will edit the post. Questions/comments/help below.

Dr. Brain is a series of educationalgames made by Sierra On-Line in the 1990s. The objective of each game is solving a series of puzzles in order to proceed further into the game. The series was later picked up by Knowledge Adventure who turned it into a more action-oriented game.

The original two games, Castle of Dr. Brain (1991) and The Island of Dr. Brain (1992), are hybrid puzzle adventure games created by an in-house team at Sierra.[citation needed] After the second game was released, Sierra acquired another company, Bright Star Technology, known for its educational games. The series was turned over to a Bright Star team, explaining the change in direction from the second game to the third.[1] The third and fourth are The Lost Mind of Dr. Brain (1995) and The Time Warp of Dr. Brain (1996).

Dr. Brain is an elderly absentminded professor. The first two Sierra games follow the Dr. Thaddeus Egghead Brain, and the last two follow Dr. Thaddeaus Puzzle Brain the Third. Dr. Brain was 'reincarnated' as Dr. Cranium in Quest for Glory IV (both Dr. Brain and Quest for Glory series are designed by Corey Cole, though Dr. Cranium mentions once that one of his descendants would get 'his very own game'.). The background information for Dr. Cranium in the Shadows of Darkness Hintbook written by Lori and Corey Cole states that Dr. T. Egghead Brain is Dr. Cranium's great-great grandson.

Other sequels[edit]

Knowledge Adventure later released four games based on the original series:

  • Dr. Brain Thinking Games: Puzzle Madness (1998) or Puzzleopolis - The first game turns Dr. Brain into a brain sitting in a jar, and casts the player as Dr. Brain's clone, Pro, fighting against the evil Con. The player plays mini-games which are logic orientated to gain devices to duel Con and his flunkies with.
  • Dr. Brain Thinking Games: IQ Adventure (1999) or Mind Venture - The second game is a third-person adventure where the player has to find and use objects to restore a trans-dimensional device that has trapped him in a strange dimension filled with plant people and mole-men.
  • Dr. Brain: Action Reaction - The third game is played in a first-person perspective, and the player and Dr. Brain have been kidnapped by S.P.O.R.E, an evil organization bent on world domination. Using the three laws of physics, switch flipping, rocket turrets, and the 'helping hand' to knock out guards, the player battles through 45 levels to capture the evil Dr. Craven.
  • The Adventures of Dr. Brain - Dr. Brain travels through time and space to go on mission to defeat The Hench and his Henchmen. The Hench has dispersed Goopods and Goo Gords all throughout different time eras. You must go to the Industrial and Ancient time eras to destroy Goopods and battle Goo Gords!

[1]The new series recast Dr. Brain as a twenty-something genius instead of an old mad scientist (though this may be explained by identifying the young man with Pro). In the newer games, there are generally less education-oriented and more problem-solving puzzles, although most are third or first person games involving throwing switches and stunning guards (IQ Adventure and Action Reaction).
